Lynn H. Berg, age 57 of Grafton, ND, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton, surrounded by loving family.
Lynn H. Berg was born March 4, 1961 in Grafton, ND, the son of Odell and LaVonne (Peterson) Berg. He grew up in the Nash/Hoople area. He attended school in Nash and graduated from Grafton High School in 1979. He attended the University of North Dakota and graduated from Mayville State University in 1985. Shortly thereafter he moved to Dallas, Texas. Lynn was united in marriage to Mary Marino on December 30, 1994 at Zion Lutheran Church. While in Texas he worked for several companies. He started working at Combined Independent Agencies as President of Anchor Claims Management in 1996, eventually becoming Chief Operating Officer. Due to health issues he retired in 2013. In 2016, Lynn moved back to the Hoople area where he continued to make his home until the time of his death.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, involved in 4-H and his fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha. He loved his daughters and his family. He was active in his daughter’s lives, attended every event they had and loved to go camping with them. He was the “favorite uncle” to his nieces and nephews. He especially loved Fourth of July parties at the farm. He enjoyed golfing, working outdoors, gardening, attending sporting events and playing games.
Lynn is survived by his daughters: Annie Berg, Bedford, TX; Nicole Berg, Bedford, TX; parents: Odell and LaVonne Berg, Hoople, ND; siblings: Scott Berg, Oakwood, ND; Brenda (Keith) Nilson, Park River, ND; Jodi (Joey) Bjornson, Neche, ND; nieces and nephews: Jordan (Stacie) Brown, Chad (Jen) Berg, Elissa Berg, Wade Berg, Kelsey (Al) Huttunen, Kara (Brent) Johnson, Courtney Nilson, Ryan Nilson and Madison Brown. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Clifford and Hazel Berg; maternal grandparents: Arnold and Clarice Peterson and sister-in-law, Nadine Berg.
Memorial services will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hoople, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery followed by a "Celebration of Life," July 21, 2019, at his farm, rural Hoople. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Sunset Home or a charity of your choice.
