Lyder L. Lundgren

Lyder L. Lundgren, age 81 of Park River, ND passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. Lyder Leroy Lundgren was born November 13, 1933 in Cando, ND the son of the late Ernest and Cornelia (Johnson) Lundgren. He grew up and attended school in Cando, ND. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951 and served until 1954. Upon his discharge he returned to Cando where he was united in marriage to Katherine Aabrekke on April 1, 1955. The couple lived in Cando for a short time before moving to Shelby, MT where Lyder worked in dry cleaning, the movie theater and a service station. The couple later moved to Edmore, ND where he was the maintenance man for the City of Edmore for several years. The couple also owned and operated the Edmore Drive-Inn. In 2000 the couple moved to Park River where they have made their home since. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed spending time on the lake fishing. Lyder is survived by his wife Katherine, Park River, ND; his sister, Carol "Dolly" Winer, Lawton, OK and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Genevieve, Margaret, Esther, Hazel, Ernest Jr. and Kenneth. Memorial services will be Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River, ND. Visitation will be Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND. Military rites will be provided by the Paul Farup American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
