LuJune A. Bjornson, age 66 of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Tuesday, August 04, 2015 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. LuJune A. Papenfuss was born January 27, 1949 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of the late Louis and June (Gaffney) Papenfuss. She grew up in Cavalier and Park River and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in 1967. She attended Mayville State University for one year before returning to Park River where she worked for Welch's Bakery. She was united in marriage to Darrell Bjornson on January 10, 1970 in Park River. The couple made their home there until moving to St. Thomas in 1975. She was a stay at home mom for a time and later worked as a cook at the St. Thomas school, and at the St. Thomas Café and C-Store. She was a member of the St. Thomas, Catholic Church and Altar Society, president of the Funeral Committee at the church, the Ottum-Ball American Legion Auxiliary, a past member and president of the Culture and Hobby Guild. She enjoyed working the elections, going to movies, reading and especially spending time with her grandchildren. LuJune is survived by her children: Michael (Wendy) Bjornson, St. Thomas, ND, Mathew Bjornson, Grand Forks, ND, Timothy (Taryn) Bjornson, Grafton, ND, grandchildren: Blake, Natalie, Jaxon, Brynleigh and Beau, siblings: Keith (Judy) Papenfuss, Park River, ND, Jennifer LaFrenz, Pearsall, TX, Kevin (Kay) Papenfuss, Park River, ND, David (Kristy) Lansing, Warren, MN; sister-in-law, Lorraine Papenfuss, Fargo, ND; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Lorraine Elznic, husband, Darrell in 2011, brother, Timothy Papenfuss and step-brothers: Lee (Ruth) Elznic and Donnie Elznic. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery.
