Ludger Kadlec, 100, formerly of Pisek passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo, ND. Ludger was born March 26, 1912, the son of Frank Kadlec Sr. and Mary (Hodny) Kadlec. He attended Pisek School and was reared on his parent's farm in Rushford Township where he farmed until his retirement in 1976. He married Elaine Horejsi on November 26, 1942 at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Nekoma. Ludger was a member of St. John Nepomecene Catholic Church of Pisek where he served on the church and cemetery boards. He was active in the community representing the Pisek School and Rushford Township Boards. He represented District III in the House of Representatives and Senate in the ND State Legislature. He was a member of the North Dakota Wheat Commission for eleven years. He traveled extensively to foreign countries with the United States Wheat Associates promoting the sale of hard red spring wheat. Following retirement the couple spent winters in Mesa, AZ enjoying the climate, dancing, playing cards and visiting with friends. He enjoyed hunting, sports and playing billiards. Ludger was an avid Twins fan and enjoyed wine making. He is survived by his wife Elaine, sons: Lawrence (Patricia) and Rodney (Audrey) both of Pisek, ND; Gontran "Buster" (Connie) Langowski, Hazen, ND; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Thoreson, his parents, brothers: Stanley, Louis, Frank and Edmund; sisters: Louise Greicar and Emeline Langowski as well as several nieces and nephews.
