Luann Jacobson

April 7, 1955 — September 5, 2020

LuAnn Jacobson, age 65 of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.

LuAnn Niswonger was born April 7, 1955 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of Clarence and Isabel Niswonger.  She was raised and attended school in Minto, graduating from Minto High School.

She attended college at Mayville State University graduating and moving to Robinson, ND for her first teaching position. She then moved to Michigan, ND for a new teaching position and it was here where she had her son, Jonathan. LuAnn returned to Grand Forks to raise Jonathan closer to family.  She worked at the Northland Rescue Mission where she met her husband Donald Jacobson.  LuAnn also worked in the optical departments at Walmart and J.C. Penney, where she retired from.  After retirement she began working for St. Stanislaus Catholic Church as a Sacristan.

LuAnn was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw, ND.  She was also a member of the Living Rosary, the Society of the Sacred Heart,  the Rosary Society, the Alter Society as well as Degree of Honor. She loved to cook, bake, and take care of her family.  LuAnn also enjoyed time with her son and daughter-in-law, her dogs and granddogs. LuAnn had a very special bond with her great nephew, Alex Robinson as she helped care for him in his early years while her niece completed her college education.

She is survived by her son: Jonathan (Jessica) Niswonger, Grand Forks, ND; mother: Isabel Niswonger, Minto, ND; siblings: Bill (Gloria) Niswonger, Walker, MN, Mariette (Melton) Flores, Rogers, AR, Gary Niswonger, Warsaw, ND, Dale (Mardell) Niswonger, Warsaw, ND, Peggy Niswonger, Minto, ND;  several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.  She was preceded in death by her father, her husband, and an infant brother, John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw, ND.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to consider donations to either St. Stanislaus Catholic Church or Journey Home Animal Rescue.
