Louise E. Pederson

Louise E. Pederson, age 89 of Grand Forks, North Dakota, formerly of Edinburg, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Valley Senior Living on 42 ^nd , Woodside Village, Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Louise E. Halvorson was born November 22, 1933, in Tolna, North Dakota, during the Great Depression, the daughter of the late Louis and Eleanor (Moldahl) Halvorson.  She was one of eleven children and was raised in a small two bedroom home.  She attended high school in Tolna and stopped attending at the age of 16 to help pay family bills.  In 1951, she moved to McVille, in 1952, she moved to Fargo and in 1953, she moved to Grand Forks, waiting tables in each area.  Louise was united in marriage to LeRoy Pederson on October 31, 1954 in Tolna, North Dakota.  The couple moved to Edinburg, North Dakota and started the Edinburg Barber Shop together while raising their family.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.  She belonged to numerous organizations locally and statewide.  Some of them included:  Edinburg Community Club, Booster Club, Centennial Committee and PTO.  She loved the Ladies Aid, where she served as President or Vice President for 35 years.  She enjoyed politics and served as District Chairman for the Democratic Party.  She had a passion for church, singing in the church choir and serving as the custodian for 20 years.  One of her favorite past times was visiting seniors.  Countless people called her Grandma.  She enjoyed going to Dairy Queen with her friend Beverly Hall and having coffee with her friends at the Cenex was a daily ritual.

Although she never played sports, she was an avid sports fan.  This began while driving her three sports crazed sons and friends to every game around the area.  Her love of sports never diminished as you could hear ESPN on her TV when a religious service was not playing.

Louise is survived by her husband, LeRoy Pederson, Grand Forks, ND; her sons:  Merle Pederson, Edina, MN; Robin Pederson, Edina, MN; her grandchildren: Karenna Pederson, Edina, MN and Elizabeth Pederson, Des Moines, IA; exchange student: Per Worm; her extended family, Kathy Clapp and family and the entire Hall family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, son Steven Pederson and her siblings.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg, ND.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of Edinburg, ND.
