Lorraine T. LaBonte, age 90 of Grafton passed away Tuesday, March 05, 2013 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton. Lorraine T. Trudeau was born March 21, 1922 in Red Lake Falls, MN, the daughter of the late Albert Trudeau and Victoria (DuCharme) Arel. She graduated High School from Mt. St. Benedict, Crookston, MN. She then attended St. Scholastica, Duluth and transferred to Bottineau where she received her Registered Nurse's Degree. Lorraine entered the U.S. Army where she was a 2nd Lt. Army Nurse. She was one of the first nurse Cadets in the Army. Lorraine was united in marriage to Donald LaBonte on October 1, 1944 in San Francisco, CA. The couple moved to Grafton in 1946 where she still currently resided. She worked for Deaconess Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, was a special duty Nurse and Unity Hospital. She retired from Unity Hospital in 1994. Donald passed away February 24, 1985. She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Altar Society, the Grafton American Legion Post #41, the Grafton Eagle's Auxiliary and the Curling Club. Lorraine is survived by her children Barbara (Roger) Bolz, Bloomington, MN; Robert (Lanae) LaBonte, Minot, ND; Katherine (Art) Zimiga, Rapid City, SD; David (Kelly) LaBonte, Grafton, ND; Victoria Aasand, Grafton, ND; Michael (Janet) LaBonte, Rapid City, SD; Patrick (Christine) LaBonte, Apple Valley, MN; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald and siblings: Rosaire, Martha and Therese. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Military rights will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41 and the ND National Guard Honor Guard. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
