Loren Kent Mairs

Loren Kent Mairs, age 61, of Edinburg, ND, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018, while at home surrounded by his family.

Loren was born November 6, 1956 to Dale and Betty (Thompson) Mairs at Community Memorial Hospital in Lisbon, ND. After graduating from Lisbon High School in 1975, Loren attended North Dakota State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Education. He was united in marriage on December 29, 1988 to Susan “Sue” Lahren from Davenport, ND. He was the proud father of two sons, Garett and Steven Mairs. The couple has lived in Edinburg since 1985 and the community became our extended family.

After teaching high school vocational/ag education at Kindred High School, Loren accepted a position with Centrol, Inc in 1985 as an ag consultant. He enjoyed meeting and working with growers from all around the area. In August of 1988, Loren started Mairs Ag Consulting, LLC. He invested countless hours in building the business and prided himself on dependability and accuracy. Loren was known for his dedication and impeccable work ethic.

In those rare moments when he wasn’t working, Loren enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with his family and friends, golfing, walking in the desert and relaxing. Loren was a natural at debating on all matters.

He will be missed by his wife, Sue Mairs, Edinburg, ND; children: Garett (Jennifer) Mairs and his granddaughter Paisley, Colfax, ND; Steven Mairs (Madi Juhl), Edinburg, ND; mother, Betty Mairs, Lisbon, ND; brothers: Randy (Susan) Mairs, Lisbon, ND; Kirk (Janet) Mairs, Fargo, ND; mother-in-law, Carol Lahren, Fargo, ND and sister-in-law, Peggy Lahren, Phoenix, AZ. Several nieces and nephews survive along with our Mairs Ag growers and past and present employees. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Mairs, father-in-law, Allen “Bud” Lahren, brother-in-law, Randy Lahren and granddaughter, Paityn Mairs.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Edinburg. His burial will take place at a later date.
