Lois C. Chounard

Lois C. Chounard, age 80 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Valley Eldercare Center of Grand Forks. Lois C. Larson was born May 9, 1931 in St. Thomas, ND the daughter of the late Roy and Antoinette (Campeau) Larson. She graduated from St. Thomas High School. Following her education she worked at the Gust Hardware Store in St. Thomas and that is where she met her future husband Joseph Chounard. The couple was married on May 9, 1953 in St. Thomas. They lived in St. Thomas for a time before moving to Grafton in 1954. She was employed at Wally's Grocery Store and Northwestern Bell. In 1970 the couple moved to Champaign, ILL where she worked at the A&P, County Market and Children's Palace. The couple retired in 1988. Joseph passed away on Sept. 18, 2006. Lois returned to Grafton in 2007 to be closer to her siblings. She is survived by her children: Richard (JoAnn) Chounard, Sadorus, ILL; Joni (Kc) Vaughn, Georgetown, KY; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and siblings: Ann (Harlan) Thompson, Grafton, ND; Eileen Siewert, Buxton, ND; Henry Larson, Pharr, TX; Randall (Jane) Larson, Spring Lake, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister: Joyce and brothers: Francis, Edward, Roy, Dennis and Donald. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery, St. Thomas, ND.
