Lloyd M Haug

Lloyd M. Haug, age 79 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Lloyd M. Haug was born August 6, 1934 in Grafton, ND, the son of the late Lewis and Martha (Sondeland) Haug. He grew up and attended rural school in Martin Township. Following his education, he began farming with his dad and uncles. He enlisted in the Army along with his friends Bob Coulthart and Norman Haug in November of 1956. While in the Army, he served in Korea for 16 months and drove a Deuce & ½ truck. He returned home in November of 1958 and served in the National Guard for 2 years. Upon completion of his military service, he worked at Lockwood Graders where he loaded railroad cars and later worked at Grafton Implement. He was united in marriage to Diane Gjevre on August 25, 1962 in Grafton, ND. He worked as a machinist for Grafton Auto Electric from 1966 until retiring in 1999. He also farmed from 1972 until 2009. After his retirement, he drove beet truck and rotobeeter for several years. His wife Diane passed away in 1994. He was a member of Grafton Lutheran Church and the Grafton VFW post #9367. He also served on the Landstad Cemetery Board. He enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas and Cancun with his friends and cousins and watching NASCAR races on Sundays. He is survived by his daughters: Tracey Haug, Grand Forks, ND and Lorie (Jason) Andel, Moorhead, MN. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Diane. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 6:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Military rights will be provided by the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard and the Grafton American Legion Post #41. Interment will be at Landstad Cemetery, Auburn, ND. The family would like to give special thanks to Lloyd's cousin Jim Haug for all the care and help towards the end.
