Elvira Johnson, age 101 of Park River, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Park River Good Samaritan Society. Liv Gudrum Elvira Johnson was born October 23, 1910 in rural Fairdale, ND, the daughter of the late Martin K. Johnson and Ellen Hoy. She was reared and educated southwest of Fairdale, attending country schools. Elvira was confirmed in 1924 in the St. Olaf Congregation. She worked for a number of years on the Farup Ranch west of Park River. She moved to Park River in 1948 where she lived with the Thorleif and Gunhild Moe Family, until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in 2005. She worked for H.D. Long, Oppeboen's Café and 32 years for the Larson's Café. She then worked a short time for Welch's Café until retiring in 1985. Elvira enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and drive's in the country side. Elvira was a member of the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and WELCA, served as a Sunday School Teacher, a custodian and served on the Altar Committee. A greater friend there could never be. Elvira will truly be missed but will always be remembered with wonderful thoughts of happiness and caring as she cared for those she loved. She will be greatly missed by those who shared in her life. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Elvira is survived by relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Park River. Friends may call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River.
