Lisa C. Montgomery

Lisa Claire Montgomery, age 60 of New York, New York died April 19, 2020 at Mount Sinai Hospital of New York after a year long battle with Lymphoma cancer.

Lisa Claire was born April 12, 1963 in Grand Forks, ND the daughter of Bob and Rose Lynne (Beetz) Miller. She grew up on the family farm near Fordville, ND. She attended school in Fordville graduating with the class of 1981. She was involved with band and chorus. Lisa graduated from Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing in 1984.

Lisa married Scott Ward in 1981 in Fordville, ND. They lived in Dickinson, ND until 1985, when they moved to Beaumont, TX. They were married until 1987. Lisa moved from Beaumont, TX to Baltimore, MD in 1990 and then finally to New York City. She was a neonatal ICU nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York for 32 years. Lisa and Marvin Montgomery were united in marriage in April 1997 at Nassua, Bahamas. They enjoyed traveling to different places, but St. Maarten, Fordville, ND and White Earth Lake, MN were annual destinations.

Lisa enjoyed gardening, reading, water sports, and going to the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament. Rafael Nadal was one of her favorites. She loved music and attended many concerts. Her favorite past time was spending time with family at the lake, beach time at St. Maarten, and being with the NICU team from work. She was well known and loved where ever she went. She will be missed.

Lisa is survived by her sister, Roberta (Gene) Francis, Adams, ND and brother, Philip (Marilyn) Miller, Devils Lake, ND; sisters-in-law: Joan Miller Leas (Jarrett Leas) and Karen Montgomery; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her father Bob, and brother Ian. Her mother, Rose Lynne followed her two weeks later in death.

Memorial Services will be Monday, May 22, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Federated Church of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Fordville, North Dakota.
