Lillian I. Hove

Lillian I. Hove, age 91 of rural Adams, ND passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks. Lillian Irene Peterson was born August 30, 1923 at rural Lawton, ND the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Skogstad) Peterson. She attended rural school in Shepherd Township of Walsh County. Following her education she worked on the family farm and in the winter months she would go to Chico, CA and worked at the King Price Candy and Soda Shop and Mulkey's Grocery store. She did this from 1944-1948. Lillian was united in marriage to Chester Hove on March 20, 1950 in Park River, ND. The couple lived and farmed in Shepherd Township until retiring in 1979. Chester passed away Nov. 14, 2000 and Lillian continued to make her home on the farm. She was a member of the former Vang Lutheran Church at rural Fairdale. Her life centered around her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her dogs and her farm. She loved to crochet and made her family Afghans and doilies. She loved to play cards, do word find puzzles, and was well known for her lefse. She loved her flower gardens and her yard. Lillian is survived by her children: Charlene Flaten, Duluth, MN; Erma Lone, Stavanger, Norway, Ron (Joan) Hove, Adams, ND and JoAnn (Bob) Mehring, Fargo, ND; daughter-in-law, Pat Hove, Adams, ND; seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, her brother, Alvin (Grace) Peterson, Lawton, ND. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-son, Neil Hove, son-in-law, Egil Lone, brothers: Peter, Clarence, Ernest, Edwin, Albert, Chester, Joel and Allan and sisters: Elda Flaten, Violet Meline and Ethel Schuster. Funeral services will be Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mountain Lutheran Church, Adams, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Vang Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fairdale, ND.
