Lila J Monson

Lila J. Monson, age 98 of Grafton passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at her home in Grafton. Lila J. Aasand was born August 4, 1915 near Hoople, ND the daughter of the late Ole and Annie (Berg) Aasand. She attended rural school near Hoople and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River. She later received her teaching certificate from Mayville State Teachers College. She taught rural school north of Grafton. Lila was united in marriage to Henry W. "Hank" Monson on January 14, 1946 in Pipestone, MN. The couple lived in Nash where he operated the Nash Store, the post office and was also a potato broker. The couple moved to Grafton in 1978. Hank passed away on Dec. 18, 1988. Lila is survived by her brother, Ole (Frances) Aasand, Grafton, ND; sister-in-law, Eleanor Aasand, Grafton, ND and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Jevon, sisters: Olga and Beulah, a niece, Joan Mohagen and nephew, Mark Aasand. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hoople, ND. Visitation will be Monday from 5:30-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
