Lila K Mielke

Lila K. Mielke, age 88 of Grafton, ND, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the First Care Health Center of Park River.

Lila M. Kaldor was born April 23, 1931 in Hillsboro, ND, the daughter of the late Orphey and Helen (Ydstie) Kaldor. She attended area schools, graduating from Crystal High School. In 1961she opened the Walsh County Credit Bureau and she was united in marriage to Marvin Mielke on December 22, 1962 at Grafton Lutheran Church. In 1988, she opened North Valley Collections where she worked until her retirement in March of 1995.

She was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Walsh County Health Board and Walsh County Housing Board. She was Past President of the Credit Bureau of North Dakota and the Collection Bureau of North Dakota. She served on the Grafton School Board for 18 years, the Walsh County Commission for 12 years and as the Executive Secretary of Grafton United Givers for 36 years.  She taught Sunday school for 27 years and was named Grafton’s Citizen of the Year in 1982.

Lila is survived by her husband Marvin, Grafton, ND, children: Scott Mielke, Phoenix, AZ and Barbara (Keith) Janzen, Cleveland, OH, 5 grandchildren, sister Lois (Larry) Gangnes, Argusville, ND, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Shirley Hoesel, Howard Kaldor and Hazelle Haibek, and nephews: Gray Lindell and Brent Gangnes.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at the Grafton Lutheran Church of Grafton. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at the Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
