Lewis M. Solseng, age 80 of Park River, ND passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at his home in Park River.

Lewis Myron Solseng was born April 29, 1936 in Larimore, ND, the son of the late Lawrence and Myrtle (Drengson) Solseng. He attended and graduated from Larimore High School. After his education, he enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1955 and was honorably discharged in January of 1958. He then began his forty year career with Polar Communications, retiring in 1998. Lewis was united in marriage to Irene Skytland on June 30, 1962 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Fairdale, ND. The couple made their home in Park River. Irene passed away June 23, 2016.

He was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Park River. He loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren and attended every sporting event they were in. He enjoyed working in his yard, loved baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins.

Lewis is survived by his children: Tim (Lois) Solseng, Park River, ND; Julie (Kory) Bossert, Hot Springs, SD; Ryan (Angie) Solseng, Park River, ND; grandchildren: Cole (Larisa), Connor, Casey, Jameson, Ella, Jake, Lauren and Will; great granddaughter, Gracelyn; sisters: Ruth Studley, Niagara, ND; Jane Tveit, Northwood, ND; brother-in-law, William “Spud” Murphy, Grand Forks, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Irene, siblings: Vada Murphy, Gordon Solseng and Paul Solseng, brother-in-laws: Henry Studley and Arnold Tveit.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River in the spring. Military rites will be provided by the Paul Farup American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
