Leonard Schuster

Leonard Schuster, age 87 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, July 06, 2012 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Leonard Schuster was born June 16, 1925 to Max and Laura (Misialek) Schuster in Walsh County. He grew up in Warsaw and attended school at District 47 and St. Anthony's Convent. Following his education he helped on the family farm. Leonard served in the United States Army from March 28, 1951 - March 21, 1953, and much of this time was spent in Germany. He was discharged from Fort Custer, Michigan. He returned home and farmed in Pulaski Township. Leonard was united in marriage to Frances Collette on June 14, 1954 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Oakwood. Leonard retired from farming and American Crystal Sugar in 1989. In 2001 the couple purchased their home in Grafton. Leonard loved to travel and they went on many senior bus tours. He especially enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Grafton American Legion Post #41, Grafton V.F. W. Post #9367 and the Grafton Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife Frances of Grafton, ND; sons: Glenn (Jane) Schuster, Vadnais Heights, MN; Scott Schuster, Grand Forks, ND; Guy (Barb) Schuster, Bloomington, MN; four grandchildren: Kyle, Megan, Katie and Michael Schuster, sister Ethel Spies, Grand Forks, ND and brother Richard Schuster, Spencer, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Raphael, sister Amelia and two nieces: Karen and Debra. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Catholic Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Warsaw, ND. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
