Leona A. Sevigny, age 88 of Grafton, ND passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.
Leona Angeline Lansing was born December 12, 1927, the daughter of Theodore and Anne (Skorgen) Lansing on their farm in rural Lankin, ND. She was educated through the elementary level at a country school near Lankin.
Leona was united in marriage to Adrien Sevigny at St. John’s Catholic Church in Grafton, ND on June 25, 1946. Together they established their home in Grafton. Adrien passed away on June 27, 1969. Leona was a member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary and St. John’s Catholic Church. She bowled and curled for several years. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching the Minnesota Twins on television. Leona was known for making her wonderful lefse.
Leona is survived by her children: Michael (Mavis) Sevigny and Richard (Rosemary) Sevigny, both of Grafton, ND; Joan (Jerry) Seeklander, Bismarck, ND; Jill (Bill) LeQuire, Omaha, NE; her sister, Adeline Sevigny Colsen, Grand Forks, ND; a very special nephew, Lynus (Debbie) Sevigny, Grand Forks, ND; eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Ryan) Kava, Jay Sevigny, Malinda (Chad) Kragh, Heather Seeklander, Jeremy (Kara) Seeklander, Abbey LeQuire, Nicholas LeQuire, Emily (Luke) Burger, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Gladys Novak, brother, Aldus Lansing and granddaughter, Brenda Jo Sevigny in 1982.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 5-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P. M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Unity Hospital Foundation, the Walsh County Food Pantry, the North Dakota Alzheimer Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
