Leona M. Riske

Leona M. Riske, age 93 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Leona M. Misialek was born July 28, 1924 in rural Grafton, ND the daughter of the late John and Delphine (Pulczinski) Misialek. She attended rural school near Grafton. Following her education Leona was united in marriage to Henry Riske on June 26, 1946 in Minto, ND. The couple lived in Minto for two years before making their home in Grafton. Leona worked at the Deaconess Hospital and later worked at the Walsh County Record for 25 years in the book binding department. The couple sold their home in Grafton in 2004 and moved to Mandan. They later moved to Bismarck, Fargo and Arizona. Henry passed away on Feb. 15, 2013. Leona moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home where she has resided since.

She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Parish Society, the Catholic Daughters of America and she was 56 year member of the Grafton American Legion Auxiliary and served as Past President. She was a member of the Grafton Heritage Society and started a Heart Monitoring program in Grafton. Leona was known far and wide for her cooking, baking and constant caring for people.

Leona is survived by her children: Martin “Marty” (Anne) Riske, Fargo, ND; Kathryn (George) Perrin, Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren: Shawn R. Perrin, Gilbert, AZ; John (Blythe) Riske, Oakland, CA; Kelly Riske, Fargo, ND; a great grandson, her sister; Delphine “Della” Lutovsky, West Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 25, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery, Warsaw, ND. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the St. John’s Kitchen Fund or the Lutheran Sunset Home.
