Leo Misialek

November 14, 1933 — September 12, 2014

Leo Misialek (80) of Minto, ND, passed away September 12, 2014 at Rosewood on Broadway Nursing Home in Fargo, ND. Leo was born on November 14, 1933, on a farm near St. Thomas, ND, the son of Walter and Christine (Marynik) Misialek. He attended and graduated from Minto High School in 1951. He joined the US Air Force in 1952, serving until 1956. He married Genevieve (Gen) Wilmer on December 28, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Minto. Leo was a master electrician, owning and operating Minto Electric, Inc. He served on the Minto School Board and volunteered for the Minto Fire Department as Secretary/Treasurer. He also served as Minto City Auditor, for 28 years, and was a member of the Minto American Legion Post #201, serving as past commander and historian, of the American Disabled Veterans Association of Grand Forks, of the Knights of Columbus, and of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 1991, he was awarded Outstanding Employed Handicapped Citizen by the Grafton Mayor's Committee. Leo enjoyed visiting with family and friends, going to the casino, playing bingo, tinkering with clocks, and anything Minto related. He was always so proud of his family and hometown. Leo is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gen, of Minto, ND; 6 children - Lynn (Cheryl) of Grand Forks, ND, and their children Kyle, Kelsey, Kody, and Kourtney; Brian (Debbie) of Minto, ND, and their childen Alana and Logan; Gwynn (Earl) Misialek Harlow of Centralia, IL, and her son Chad Gordon; Jennifer (Greg) Nalewaja of Charlotte, NC, and their children Noah, Sidney, Landon, and Caden; Sue (Steven) Ulven of Grand Forks, ND, and their children Lucas and Derek; and DeAnn (Matthew) Hallaway of Fargo, ND, and their children Joshua, Sophie, Cortland, and Liam; 7 brothers and sisters - Ernie (Rose) of Grand Forks, ND; Jack (Paulette) of Park River, ND; Cec (Dave) Lambeth of Grand Forks, ND; Joanne Campbell of Castle Rock, WA; Jerry (Ellen) of Minto, ND; Greg (Shad) of Castle Rock, WA; and Chris (Jane) of Minto, ND; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister and brother-in-law Kathryn and Al Holten, brother-in-law Bill Campbell, and 2 infant brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Military rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion Post # 201 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery of Minto. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Minto Community Center, Hospice of the Red River Valley, or Rosewood on Broadway Nursing Home (Fargo, ND).
