Leo J. Bosh, age 93 of Lankin, ND passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at First Care Health Center of Park River.

Leo Joseph Bosh was born December 9, 1922 in Cleveland Township, rural Lankin, to William and Josephine (Bina) Bosh.

He was united in marriage to LaVerne Dvorak on November 7, 1945 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lankin. They celebrated 70 years together this past November.

Leo worked on the family farm and later for the Soo Line Railroad early in his married life. In 1948 he started Bosh Housemoving, eventually becoming known as Leo J. Bosh & Sons Housemoving, for 42 years, retiring in 1992. He then went into the frozen potato dumpling business, operating Leo’s Potato Dumplings until he retired the second time in 2010 at the age of 87.

He served 3 terms as Mayor of Lankin in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s and was the cities Chief of Police for many year. A member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, he served on the building committee for the new church that was completed in 1967. He is well known for starting the first of what would be many “Lankin Days” in 1969 hiring Polka bands from Nebraska and Minnesota for a 2 day celebration that flooded the streets of Lankin with people from near and far. Not one to sit idle, Leo enjoyed yard work and raised a large garden up until last fall.

Leo is survived by his wife, sons Rodney (Paulette), Lankin, Tim (Sally), Mesa, AZ, Galen (Terri), Park River, Kevin (Sheila), Grand Forks and daughters LeNae (Gary) Askim, Park River and Jennifer (Kurt) Kelley, Minto. Grandchildren: Shannon (Brian) Pecka, Jeanette (Alan) Johnson, Jeremy Bosh and Stephanie Bosh, Craig (Marge) Askim, Lisa (Dave) Olson, Matthew (Patience) Askim, Tiffany (Rick) Lawrence, Thayne (Donna) Bosh, Justin (Rikki) Bosh, Bret Bosh, Robbie Bosh, Kirstin Bosh, Matthew Mireault, Aaron Bosh, Lane Kelley and Lucas (Kaylina Paulley) Kelley along with 28 great grandchildren. Survivors also include sisters Dorothy Novak, Marion Capouch, Minnie Cole and Genevieve Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill, Barty and Herman and sisters Florence Jelinek, Marcy Capouch and Josie Brodina.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 16, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Lankin. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
