Laverne E Slaamod

Laverne Elizabeth Slaamod, age 81 of Park River, ND, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Wedgewood Manor in Cavalier, ND.

Laverne Cash, daughter of James and Mary Cash was born in Edmore, ND on September 21, 1938.  Laverne attended school in Edmore and worked in her dad’s mechanic shop alongside him, helping with duties from washing parts to working on cars.

Laverne was united in marriage in 1956 to Wallace Slaamod.  Together they raised three children, Betty, Gerald, and Gary in Park River, ND.

Laverne worked outside the home at the Ritz Café, St. Ansgar’s Hospital, and other various places.  Laverne lived in Park River with Wallace until moving Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, in December of 2018.

Laverne loved to grow beautiful flowers.  She was especially proud of her flowerbeds full of gladiolas, tulips, and roses.  Laverne had many other hobbies such as ceramics, painting, sewing, baking, cooking, and was well known for her delicious pies.

Laverne is survived by her husband, Wallace, Park River, ND, daughter Betty Smith, Fargo, ND, son Gerald (Lisa) Slaamod, Park River, ND, son Gary (Brenda) Slaamod, Sartell, MN.  Grandchildren: Keith Harlow, Robert Smith, Christina Smith, Dustin (Kelsey) Slaamod, and Nathan Slaamod.  Great grandchildren: Derek Harlow, Alexa Smith, Drake and Leia Slaamod.  Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews also survive.  Laverne had a special bond with her nieces and nephews as she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Private family funeral services will be held in spring of 2020.
