Larry Staven

Larry Staven, age 67 of Northwood, ND and formerly of Park River and Devils Lake, ND passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at the Deaconess Health Center of Northwood, ND. Larry Staven was born May 13, 1948 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Lorney and Ruth (Nelson) Staven. He attended school in Park River and graduated from Lake Region Technical College in Devils Lake, ND. He worked as an over the road trucker. Larry was united in marriage to Barbara Praska on Aug. 19, 1967 in Park River, ND. They later moved to Devils Lake, ND. Barbara passed away in September of 2006. Larry lived at Heartland Care Center for a short time before moving to the Northwood Deaconess Health Center. Larry was a member of the North Dakota Ham Radio Operators. He enjoyed camping and tinkering with old cars. He is survived by his siblings: Linda Dietrich and Karen Johnston, both of Crystal, ND; Arnold Bjerke, Edinburg, ND; nieces: Kayla Plencner, Lisa Moen and Heather Salentiny and five great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Robert Myren. Funeral services will be Monday, November 2, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River, ND. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at South Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Grafton, ND.
