Larry Pohanka

Larry Pohanka, age 67 of Park River, ND passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at his home in Park River. Larry Pohanka was born April 1, 1945 in Park River, ND the son of the late Jerry and Josephine (Vasichek) Pohanka. He graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School and attended Valley City State College for one year. He worked for the North Dakota State Seed Department and later established the Larry Pohanka Potato Company of Grafton, ND which he ran until his retirement. Larry was united in marriage to Ann Monsebroten on February 9, 1978 in Grand Forks, ND. The couple made their home near Grafton until 2005 when they moved into Park River, ND. Larry is survived by his wife Ann of Park River, ND; daughters: Lori (Kelly) Kalama, Belton, TX; Kate (Terry) Holzer, Linton, ND; Xan (Todd) Swenson, Ellsworth, WI; six grandchildren: Lukas, Morgan, Payton and Gracyn Holzer, Rafe and Gabe Kalama and his brother Gerald of Park River, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be Monday, October 1, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church rural Hoople, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
