Kenneth J. Greicar

Kenneth John Greicar of Pisek,ND passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by family. Kenneth was born August 28, 1933 to John and Louise (Kadlec) Greicar in Pisek, ND. He attended Pisek Public School. Kenneth married Barbara Rudser of Hampden, ND on October 7, 1961 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Munich,ND. A lifelong resident, of Pisek, he started his career in 1956 with Farmers Union GTA and also sold hail insurance for several years. He managed the elevator until his retirement from CHS in December, 1989. Upon his retirement with CHS he served as interim manager for a number of local and regional elevators. An active community leader, he became Fire Chief of the Pisek Rural Fire Protection District in 1965 and held that position for 21 years. Kenneth served on the city council for eight years. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Nepomucene Church of Pisek of which he had served as trustee, and a member of the cemetery board. Kenneth enjoyed spending his time outside, whether it be in his garden, taking care of his hobby animals, or hunting with his boys. Spending time with his family was among his favorite things to do He is survived by his wife Barbara, sons, Paul, Grand Forks, ND Les, Chicago, Il, and Mark (Rhonda) Devils Lake, ND ; two grandchildren, Gina (Brandon Allen, fiance), Grand Forks, ND and John, Mitchell, SD.; three step-grandchildren, Heather and Ashley, Minneapolis, MN and Michael, Fargo, ND, one step-great grandchild, Kyler Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Kenneth was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Costello and Isabella Barnes. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John's Catholic Church of Pisek. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a rosary service at 6:45 and a scripture service at 7:00 PM at the church in Pisek. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
