Kay J. Theroux, age 75 of Minto, ND, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Valley Eldercare Center of Grand Forks.
Kay J. Mondry was born February 17, 1941 on the family farm near Ardoch, ND the daughter of the late William and Mary (Peterson) Mondry. She attended rural schools and graduated from High School in Minto, ND. She was united in marriage to Stanley T. Sass and then married Gerald Theroux in June of 1982.
Kay worked in various café’s in Minto, then operated Kay’s Café in Minto for six years. She then went to work at the bakery at Wally’s Supermarket in Grafton for 18 years. She cooked at the Minto Public School for three years, retiring because of her health.
Kay was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a member of the Minto American Legion Auxiliary for 45 years serving as past president.
Kay is survived by her children: Rudy (Kim) Sass, Kimberly A. Sass and Stan Sass all of Minto, ND; two sisters: Mary Ellen (Gene) Balek, Manvel, ND; and Shirlee (Tom) Thompson, Jamesville, IA; her brother Allen Mondry, Hewitt, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, sisters Marilyn Behnkie and Karen Farder and her brother Lyle Mondry.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Grafton, ND.
