Junice L. Thompson

Junice L. Thompson, age 89 of Park River, ND passed away Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the First Care Health Center of Park River, ND. Junice L. Holt was born June 3, 1922 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Henry and Julia (Serness) Holt. She attended schools in Grafton, graduating from Grafton High School. Following her education she helped on the family farm working in the cook cars. She was united in marriage to Thomas "Tommy" Thompson on September 3, 1941 in Grafton. The couple lived and farmed near Park River, ND. Tommy passed away on November 13, 1999. Junice moved to the Borg Pioneer Memorial Home in Mountain, ND in January of 2011. Junice was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Hoople, ND where she was active in the WELCA, taught Sunday school, served as the church financial secretary and treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Walsh County Curling Club, the Countryside Homemakers and was a Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Grafton. Junice is survived by her sons: Daniel (Barbara), Alliance, Neb; Douglas (Kay), Park River, ND; James (Alyce), Grafton, ND; Richard (Pam), Grafton, ND; Ronald (Jennifer), Park River, ND; Thomas Jr. (Angela), Park River, ND; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and sisters: Dorothy Presteng and Harriet (Murphy) Callahan, both of Grafton, ND; Marilyn Withy, Naples, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandchildren, brothers: Ray and Kenny and sisters: Helen and Ruth. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hoople, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River, ND and Thursday for one hour prior to the service at the church near Hoople. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hoople.
