Lucinda “June” Olson Heidt passed away April 1, at Unity Hospital in Grafton North Dakota. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Edinburg, ND. Burial will be at the Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park Cemetery of Billings next to her husband.
June was born in Comertown, Montana on June 26, 1924, to August and Dina Hilde Olson, the fifth child in a family of six. She graduated from Comertown High School in 1942 and went on to Nurses Training in Minot, North Dakota. After beginning her nursing career in Plentywood and then Vancouver, Washington, she moved to California.
It was in California, in her capacity as a nurse, that she met her future husband, Edward Heidt, a patient in the hospital where she worked. They were married on Thanksgiving Day 1957.
After her retirement from nursing and his retirement as a bank official, they sold their California home in 1985 and moved to Portland, Oregon. In 1999 they moved to Billings where they made their final home. Ed died in 2002. June continued to live there until Alzheimer's set in. She lived in assisted living at TenderNest in Billings, Montana from 2017 until she was transferred in August 2018 to Maple View in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In December of the same year, she was moved to Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton, North Dakota.
June was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Larry Olson and twin sisters, Alice Olson and Doris Storaasli, brothers-in-law, Alfred Storassli and Waldemar Lane.
She is survived by her brother, Glen Olson, Seattle, Washington, and her sister, Evedine Lane of Plentywood, Montana; her sister-in-law, Bonita Olson of Edinburg, North Dakota; nieces and nephews, Allen Storaasli, Federal Way, Washington; Janet (Randy) Johansen, and Lori Olson, Edinburg; Judy (Allen) Sorbo, Adams, North Dakota; Jill (Noel) Pilon, Grafton; Mark Olson, Arlington, Massachusetts, Marjean Olson, New York City, NY; Vicki (Chris) Ruby and Jack Lane, Plentywood, Montana. June is also survived by many members of her late husband's family.
