June Mckay

June McKay, age 77 of Grafton, ND and formerly of Milton, ND passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Angeline June Anderson was born November 12, 1932 in Hensel, ND the daughter of the late Oscar and Edna (Bjelde) Anderson. She attended rural school near Hensel and graduated from Milton High School. June was united in marriage to Duane McKay on June 1, 1952 in Milton, ND. The couple made their home in Milton where June worked as a waitress at the Milton Café. The couple later purchased the café and owned and operated it for several years. Duane passed away on May 7, 2008 and in August of 2008 June moved to Grafton. June was a member of the Milton Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aid. She served on the Milton Park Board and the Milton Senior Citizens Board. June loved to bake and took a lot of baking orders from people in the area. Duane and June had a craft business called McKay's Cuts, and they traveled to several craft shows in the area. June is survived by her son Jeff (Deb) McKay, Grafton, ND; two granddaughters: Alisa and Jenna McKay, both of Grafton, her sister Charlotte (John) Nelson, International Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Delores (Roy) Akset. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grafton Lutheran Church of Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Milton Memorial Cemetery, Milton, ND.
