Julie D. Kalgard

Julie D. Kalgard, age 66 of Grand Forks, ND passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 in her home.

Julie Dawn Kalgard was born August 2, 1959 in Park River, ND the daughter of the late Myron and Barbara (Cole) Kalgard. She grew up and attended school in Park River, ND. Following her high school graduation, she attended Aaker’s Business College for a legal secretary background in Grand Forks. Julie was always a hard worker, she also worked for many food services, always having 2-3 jobs at various businesses in Grand Forks with the most recent being Northeast Human services. She was intelligent, funny, strong and very independent but also very kind. She retired in 2024 due to her failing health.

Julie loved her family, her sister, brothers, her nieces and nephews and their children, all her cousins and their families. She had a big heart and although she never had children of her own, she had multiple fur babies throughout the years, most recently her kitty Betsy.

Julie is survived by her siblings: Sheila Kalgard, Fargo, ND; Kim (Anna) Kalgard, Park River, ND and Chad (Alicia) Kalgard, Grafton, ND. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive along with her cat Betsy. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Wade.

Per Julie’s wishes, private family services will be held at a later date.

The Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River is in charge of the arrangements.
