Joyce L. Welsh

Joyce L. Welsh, age 84 of Grafton, ND passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.

Joyce Rudie was born February 22, 1932 in Cavalier, ND, the daughter of the late Morris and Olive (Geiger) Rudie. She grew up and attended school in Cavalier and graduated from Cavalier High School and Mayville State College. She also attended the University of North Dakota. She taught elementary school in Noonan and Grafton for 31 years. She was united in marriage to Neil Welsh on July 31, 1966 in Cavalier, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton. Neil passed away on February 11, 2005 and she moved into the Lutheran Sunset Home in 2013.

She was a member of the Federated Church of Grafton and the Retired Teachers. She also filled several volunteer roles at the Lutheran Sunset Home.

Joyce is survived by her children David (Karen) Welsh, Byron, MN, and Debra Welsh, Warren, MN, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and brother Ralph Rudie, Bakersfield, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and granddaughter Rianna Welsh.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Federated Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7, with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Grafton City Cemetery.
