Joyce L Ramsey

Joyce L. Ramsey, 88, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Park River, ND, died Friday, May 5, 2017 surrounded by family at Essentia Hospital in Fargo.

Joyce was born November 12, 1928 to Oliver and Agnes (Bahl) Finstad in Bottineau, North Dakota. She married Gordon Ramsey on July 7, 1957 and resided in Park River until her move to the Fargo Good Samaritan Assisted Living facility in 2013.

Joyce’s life can be best described in the titles she carried – devoted daughter, quick-witted sister, NDSU graduate, dedicated teacher, loving wife, comforting mother, true and loyal friend and spoiling grandmother.

Joyce is survived by her children, Caren Flaten, Anchorage, AK; Russ (Linda) Ramsey, Park River, ND; Scot (Karri) Ramsey, Hermantown, MN; Tami (Harry) Chyle, Fargo, ND; Tim Ramsey, Anchorage AK; Allan (Larry Michael) Ramsey, Anchorage, AK; eight grandchildren, Blake (Nicole) Lund; Kayla (Neil) Swetz; Ashley (Tom) Kennedy; Jena (Ryan) Downs; Amy (Ryan) Will; Hayley (Jeff) Brown; Jordan Chyle; Brittany (Scott Huneke) Ramsey; nine great-grandchildren; sister Carol Kelly, Dayton, OH and brother, Lee Finstad, Grand Forks, ND. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her sister, Eileen Shane; and her son-in-law, Randy Flaten.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery of Park River.
