Joyce Marie Moran

Joyce Marie Moran, age 74 of Grafton, ND, formerly of Langdon, ND, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND surrounded by her family.

Joyce Shelp was born, July 31, 1941 in Maida, ND, the daughter of the late Theodore “Ted” and Isabel (Fischer) Shelp. She attended school in Langdon, graduating from St. Alphonsus High School in 1959. She went on to earn her cosmetology license in Fargo, ND and her business degree from Aaker’s Business College in Fargo. She was united in marriage to Terry Moran Sr. on June 9, 1967 in Crookston, MN. The couple had 5 children. The couple made their home in Grand Forks and upon Terry’s death in 1977, she moved to Grafton, ND. She worked at the Developmental Center for 27 years, retiring in 2006.

She enjoyed her retirement spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, gardening, playing Bingo and card games, going to the casino “shopping.”

She is survived by her children: Laurie (Tim) Campbell, Terry Moran Jr. (Julie LaVallie), Michael Moran, Brian Moran, Paul (Irma) Moran, all of Grafton, ND, sisters Fern Hofstad, Grand Forks, ND, Patricia (Dawn) Bailly, Grafton, ND, 8 grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Cole, Shelby, Michael, Tyler, Jordan, Charlie, and Ryder, 4 great grandchildren: Kyleigh Jo, Aiden, Diesel, Bobbi Ann, and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Terry Moran Sr., parents, Theodore “Ted” and Isabel Shelp, sister Kay Francis, grandparents Frank and Kathryn Fischer, mother and father-in-law, Faye and Paul Moran, brother-in-law Julian “Herk” Hofstad, niece Angela Bailly Johnson, and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 22, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Interment will be at the Calvary North Cemetery of Grand Forks.
