Joyce J. Lee

Joyce J. Lee, age 78 of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Valley Eldercare Center of Grand Forks.

Joyce Jorgine Quam was born June 5, 1938 in Grafton, ND the daughter of the late Russell and Joy (Knutson) Quam. She attended rural school at the Quam School near St. Thomas and graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1956. Joyce worked as a telephone operator in Grafton for a year. Joyce was united in marriage to John Lee on April 21, 1957 in St. Thomas. The couple made their home in St. Thomas. Joyce worked potato and beet harvest in the fall for many years. She later worked as a secretary for Insurance Associates for 15 yrs. Following her retirement the couple enjoyed spending winters traveling.

Joyce was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and WELCA, the St. Thomas Culture and Hobby Club and the Red Hat Society. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending all their activities. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and spending time at the lake.

Joyce is survived by her husband, John of St. Thomas, ND; children: Jackie (Kip) Severinson, Grand Forks, ND; Kevin (Tammy) Lee, St. Thomas, ND; two grandchildren: Lexie and Adriana Lee of St. Thomas, ND; her brothers: John (Helen) Quam, Mound, MN and Robert (Kathy) Quam, Aberdeen, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents and twin sister, Jan.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of St. Thomas, ND. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the church. Friends may also call at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to the St. Thomas City Cemetery.
