Joseph L. Dusek

Joseph L. Dusek, age 85 of Grafton, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Hearthstone at Woodside Village in Grand Forks, ND.

Joseph L. Dusek was born August 10, 1933 in Prairie Centre Township, Walsh County, ND the son of the late Frank J. and Mary Ann (Blazek) Dusek. He attended rural school in Prairie Centre Township. Following his education he worked as farm labor in the area. Joe enlisted in the United States Army on March 24, 1954 and served in Korea. Following his honorable discharge on January 5, 1956 he returned home and started farming with his father. Joe was united in marriage to Clarice Riskey on October 20, 1959 in Grafton, ND. The couple made their home on the farm near Veseleyville, ND. He later farmed with his sons, Danny and Ernie, retiring in 1996. In 1997 the couple moved to Grafton, ND and has lived here since.

Joe was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Veseleyville, St. John’s Catholic Church of Grafton, the KD Lodge, Knights of Columbus and Grafton American Legion where he served with the 40 et 8 and the American Legion Honor Guard. He served on the Board of Directors for the Three Rivers Soil Conservation, Prairie Centre Township and Grafton Rural Fire Department. He loved to listen to Czech music and the couple enjoyed going to dances.

Joe is survived by his wife, Clarice, Grafton, ND; children: Danny (Teresa), Grafton, ND; Rick (Brenda), Eagan, MN; Judy (Jon) Hendry, Grand Forks, ND: David (Sheryl), Fargo, ND;Ernie (Barb), Grafton, ND; DuWayne (Alanna), Grand Forks, ND; Joey (Amy), Lakeville, MN; 18 grandchildren, one great grandchild, sister, Helen Sieben, Grafton, ND and brother Ray (Terry) Dusek, Crookston, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank P and Benedict and sister Mary Berg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday December 22, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM and Saturday for one hour prior to the service all at St. John’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery, Veseleyville, ND. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Hearthstone at Valley Memorial Homes for all the love and care shown to Joe during his stay there. The family would like memorials to St. Luke’s Cemetery Fund or St. John’s Catholic Church.
