John H. Soukup

John H. Soukup, age 95 of Lankin, ND passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Park River Good Samaritan Center.

John H. Soukup was born August 27, 1926 in Latona Township of Walsh County the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Pich) Soukup. He attended rural school there. Following his education he worked on the family farm. John was united in marriage to Betty Votava on October 14, 1952 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Veseleyville. The couple lived on the farm near Lankin for a few years before moving into Lankin. John worked for the Farmers Union Elevator in Lankin for 35 years. He then did seasonal work for Cenex in Lankin transporting anhydrous tanks.

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bechyne Lodge and Park River Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and tending his garden.

John is survived by his wife, Betty of 70 years, their son, Jeff of Fargo, ND; four grandchildren: Darin (Tiffany) Soukup, Christy (Jason) Mallon, Jennifer (Aaron) Ranzenberger, Terry John Conlon and nine great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, children: Deborah and John, brother, Al and sister, Marjorie Hodny.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 28, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Lankin. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery of Bechyne.
