John B. Sevigny

John B. Sevigny, age 88 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at his home in Grafton. John B. Sevigny was born February 3, 1926 in Oakwood, ND the son of the late Philorum and Laura (Proulx) Sevigny. He attended St. Aloysius Academy in Oakwood. John was united in marriage to Alice Grabanski on June 3, 1947 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church of Warsaw. The couple lived and farmed near Oakwood until retiring and moving into Grafton. During the winter months, John worked at Borden's Potato Plant and enjoyed doing carpentry work. John was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Oakwood where he served as trustee and sang in the church choir for years. He was a member of the Grafton Knights of Columbus, Grafton Eagle's Club and the N.F.O. He served on the Board of Directors for Associated Potato Growers for a number of years. John loved to square dance, play cards and was very involved with the senior bowling group. As his grandchildren grew he loved to follow their sporting activities, especially baseball, football, basketball, hockey and wrestling. John is survived by his wife, Alice of Grafton, ND; daughters: Rita (Jim) Havis, Oslo, MN; LaVonne (Nick) Storhaug, Lisbon, ND; and Cynthia (Wayne) Holt, Grafton, ND; seven grandchildren: Shaun (Kristen)Havis, Jenice (Eric) Looney, Brady (Jan) Storhaug, Tyler Storhaug, John (Amanda) Holt, Ross (Kelly) Holt and Luke (Alexa) Holt; eleven great grandchildren: Alex, Aaron and Brynn Havis, Ashlyn & Kaelie Looney, Elizabeth & Nicholas Storhaug, Colin, Lydia, Peyton and Christian Holt; his brother, Philip (Mary Jane) Sevigny, Oakwood, ND. John was preceded in death by his parents, three infant siblings, brother, Gabriel and sisters: Margaret Gourde and Marie Lafreniere. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Oakwood. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 - 7:15 PM with a rosary service at 7:15 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
