John E. Kelly

John E. Kelly, age 76 of Park River, ND passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at First Care Health Center of Park River. John E. Kelly was born June 16, 1935 in Brocket, ND the son of the late Edward J. and Adelia (Anderson) Kelly. He attended schools in Brocket and graduated from the Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River. John served in the United States Army from 1956-1958. He returned to Park River and worked for area farmers. John was united in marriage to Lydia Wegge on November 14, 1958 in Park River. John owned and operated Kelly's Service Station from 1960-1966. He started selling cars with Fred Silliman in Park River. In 1969 he purchased KAP, Inc. and sold cars from 1969-1985. He later worked part-time for Lykken's Inc. and Hanson's Auto in Grafton. John was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and the Paul Farup American Legion Post #147 in Park River. John is survived by his wife Lydia, Park River, ND; children: Pam (Colin) Craig, Gilbert, AZ; Carmen (Jeff) Kelly Harrison, Laquinta, CA, Stacy Kelly, Scottsdale, AZ; Barry Kelly, Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren; siblings: Patrick (Judy) Kelly, Kansas City, MO; Rodney (Teresa) Kelly, Kansas City, MO; Vernon (Denise) Kelly, Lawton, ND; Marsha (Ed) Nelson, Golden Valley, MN; Colleen Thompson, Garrison, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Jim, Kenny and Denny. Memorial services will be Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Park River. Visitation will be Wednesday for one hour prior to the service. Military rites will be provided by the Paul Farup American Legion Post and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River, ND.
