John C. Carson

John C. Carson, age 84 of Hoople, ND passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Parkview Health Center of Aneta, ND after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

John C. Carson was born September 18, 1932 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Vernon and Tona (Johnson) Carson. He grew up and attended school in Hoople, ND. He attended Concordia College for a time before enlisting in the United States Army. He served from 1953-1955, serving in Korea. Following his discharge he returned home and started farming. John was united in marriage to Laura Wendelbo on November 3, 1957 in Grafton. The couple made their home on the family farm near Hoople. John moved to the Parkview Health Center in November of 2016.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Hoople and the Hoople American Legion. John’s passions were his family, farming and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Laura, Hoople, ND; son, Mark (Jeanne) Carson, Hoople, ND; daughter, Joan Carson, Larimore, ND; and two grandsons: Paul and James. John was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded by his parents, and infant son, sisters, Lorraine and Eunice and brother Robert.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 12, 2016 at 2:30 P.M. at First Lutheran Church of Hoople, ND. Visitation will be Monday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Hoople City Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Hoople American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
