Johanna S Schrank

Johanna S. Schrank, age 86 of Grafton, ND passed away on Friday, April 01, 2011 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Johanna S. Bjarnason was born November 11, 1924 in Hallson, ND the daughter of the late Sigurbjorn and Freda (Paulson) Bjarnason. She grew up in the Mountain area. Her father died in 1927 and Johanna moved to Grafton with her mother and family in 1939. She graduated from Grafton High School in 1942 then attended the Commercial Business College in Grand Forks. She also attended the LaSalle Extension University. She was employed at the Grafton National Bank and later worked at Peterson's Jewelry. Johanna was united in marriage to Wesley Schrank on October 27, 1946 near Grafton. The couple lived and farmed east of Grafton until 1990 when they moved to Grafton. Wesley passed away on May 28, 2001 and she moved to the Leisure Estates. Johanna was a member of the Zion English Lutheran Church and LWML. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons: Dehlon (Lori) Schrank, Horace, ND; Keith (Sandy) Schrank, Grafton, ND; five grandchildren: Shane (Angel) Schrank, Grafton, ND; Orin (Katie) Schrank, Grand Forks, ND; Nessa Schrank, Grand Forks, ND; Rachel Mattson, Horace, ND; Kayla Mattson and her fiancé Ben Merkling, Inver Grove Heights, MN; four great grandchildren: Alex, Madison, Waylon and Wyatt; her brother: Raymond (Shirl) Bjarnason, Golden, CO. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Lena Fisher and Leona Tanney. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Zion English Lutheran Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Acton Cemetery, rural Grafton.
