Johanna A. Green, 107 of Grafton, ND and formerly of St. Thomas, ND passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. Johanna A. Nabben was born December 17, 1905 in Agder Township near Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of the late Haaken and Martha (Mortenson) Nabben. She attended rural school there and graduated from Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. She attended the Teachers College in Moorhead, MN and received a teaching certificate in 1923. She taught in one room schools in Minnesota and North Dakota. She later moved to Pembina County and taught at District 52 in 1927-28. Johanna was united in marriage to George G. Green on November 15, 1928 in East Grand Forks, MN. The couple lived and farmed in Midland Township near St. Thomas, ND. They moved to Grafton in the late 1950's and retired from farming in 1964. George passed away on August 8, 1975. Johanna continued to make her home in Grafton. She moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home on Dec. 19, 2011. She was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children: Manvel Green, St. Thomas, ND and Carol (Ralph) Tucker, St. Thomas, ND; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren; her sister, Adeline Moe, Thief River Falls, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Delores Green, one grandchild, one great grandchild,seven brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be Friday, October 11, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church of St. Thomas. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. Thomas City Cemetery.
