Jean Nelson

Ada Jean Nelson, age 78 of St. Thomas, ND went to be with her Heavenly Father and her beloved husband Peter, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born on February 15, 1936 at home on her parent's farm in St. Thomas, ND. She was born to Hubert Miller and Ada Elizabeth (Warrington) Robinson. She grew up on her parent's farm, graduating from St. Thomas High School in May 1954. She attended New York Hair Designers Academy of Fargo, graduating August of 1957. She married her loving husband Peter August 29, 1959 at St. Thomas Catholic Church. They were married thirty-five years until his death on June 19, 1994. She opened Jeanne's Beauty Salon the summer of 1962 retiring December 31, 2012 after serving her community for fifty years. She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church until its closing and was a member of the Altar Society. She was the Sacristan Minister and prepared the Altar linens. She taught CCD for eighteen years. She moved to Fargo, ND in May 2014 becoming a member of the Cathedral of St. Mary. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 168, St. Thomas, ND. Our mother is the warm sun in the center of a large constellation of family, friends and all of those blessed to have known her. She is irreplaceable in our lives; she gave so much, so generously, so lovingly. Her legacy is the love that connects us all. Jean is survived by her children: Kelly (David) LaBonte, Grafton, ND; Kim Nelson Hartje, St. Thomas, ND; Kathleen (Dean) Redmann, Fargo, ND; Jon (Janet) Nelson, Grafton, ND; Jeff (Kristina) Nelson, St. Thomas, ND; Peter (Tanya) Nelson, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Brittany (Chris) Larson, Dawnielle and Aliza LaBonte, Blake (Rachael) Hartje, Bram Nelson, Daniel and Kaylee Redmann, Jade and Jocelyn Nelson, Whitney, Taylor and Broderick Nelson and Kaitlyn Nelson; great grandchildren: Jackson and Sophia Hartje and Bjorn Larson; brother, Joseph (Betty) Robinson, St. Thomas, ND; sister, Hazel Gilbert, Olympia, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Kelly Nelson; parents, Hubert and Ada Robinson; siblings: Martha Green, John Robinson, Arthur Robinson, Phyllis Sevigny, Alice Hartje, Hayes Robinson and Muriel Kowalczik. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church of St. Thomas. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery, St. Thomas, ND in the spring.
