Jay W. Ferguson

Jay W. Ferguson, age 75 of Forest River, ND passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the Sanford Medical Center of Fargo, ND. Jay Willson Ferguson was born December 6, 1936 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Raymond J. and Lily A. (Willson) Ferguson. He graduated from Forest River High School in 1955 and attended NDSU in Fargo for a time. He served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1960. Upon his discharge he returned home to farm. Jay was united in marriage to Doris Bayne on March 24, 1961 in Forest River. In 1963 the couple purchased a farm near Forest River and has made their home there since. Jay retired after 30 years of farming but continued to help area farmers with field work. He was a member of the Forest River Community Church, Forest River American Legion Post #251, and the St. John's Masonic Lodge #36. He also served on the Forest River Farmers Elevator Board for a number of years. Jay is survived by his wife Doris, Forest River, ND; children: Angela Ferguson, Oslo, MN; Cathy (Delmar) Hauff, Lehr, ND; Ray Ferguson, Forest River, ND; two grandchildren: Karissa Ogden, St. Cloud, MN; Darthaneil "Danny" (Kelly) Ferguson, Grand Forks, ND; four great grandchildren: Gavin and Logan Ogden and Grace and Faith Ferguson; brother Lee (Marilyn) Ferguson, Forest River, ND; sister Mary Alice (Harry) "Sonny" Lottine, Grafton, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Rae Ann Larson and grandson Brandon. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Forest River Community Church. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 PM at Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton and Tuesday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Forest River Cemetery.
