Janet Evelyn Bina, age 76 of Grafton, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Essentia Health Medical Center in Fargo, ND, after fighting a six-year battle with cancer.
Janet Evelyn Maszk, the daughter of the late Joseph Maszk and Vernie (Kowalczick) Maszk, was born March 26, 1942, at the Deaconess Hospital in Grafton. She attended elementary school in Ardoch, ND, and high school in Forest River, ND, where she graduated in 1960. In 1961, she married Benedict Bina. The couple made their home on the Bina family farm, where they raised four daughters. Janet was a devoted farm wife and homemaker, staying at home to raise her family during their formative years. Later, she worked as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Center in Park River. She continued her education with computer classes at the Vocational Ag. Center in Grafton and put her new skills to work at the Good Samaritan Center, where she moved into the role of scheduling, billing, and medical records secretary. She worked there until she retired in 2007.
Janet and Ben made their home on the family farm until they moved into Grafton in February of 2018. Janet was involved in many groups, including a homemakers group, a ceramics club, St. Luke’s Altar Society, a doll club in Grafton, and the American Legion. She also enjoyed sewing, crafts, canning, gardening, and reading. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she loved her dog Posie, who was a gift from her husband Ben. The couple was happily married for 56 years.
Janet is survived by her daughters: Valerie (Bradley) Aho, Mohall, ND; Constance Economos, Fargo, ND; Darlene (Gene) Langham, Minot, ND; Cynthia (Ben) Bedard, Bottineau, ND; thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, siblings: Kathleen (Bill) Briske, Frank (Patty) Maszk, Joann (Gordon) Sternberg, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandchildren: Alaundra and Katelyn Economos, siblings: Vernon Maszk and an infant sister, and nephew: Joseph Briske.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Veseleyville, ND. Visitation will be at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the spring at the St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery, Veseleyville, ND.
