James Robert Walski

James R. Walski, age 82 of Minto, ND passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.

James Robert Walski was born May 14, 1936 in Oslo, MN the son of the late Francis O. and Florence C. (Riskey) Walski. He attended rural school at Walshville District 115.  Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1954-1958. Upon his discharge he returned home and worked for Joe Mayo Construction. James married Elizabeth Ebertowski and they had four children together. Jim worked as a heavy machinery mechanic at the Grand Forks Air Force Base for several years.  Jim married Carol Wysocki on May 28, 1988 in Minto, ND. He later farmed with his brother Tom for 10 years, for Schanilec Farms for several years and Northern Valley Machine in Ardoch. He was currently trucking for Altendorf Express in Minto, ND.

Jim was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto. He was a member of the Minto American Legion Post #201. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards, especially pinochle. His greatest joy however was spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephew. He loved them dearly.

Jim is survived by his wife, Carol, Minto, ND; his children: Mitchell (Lee) Walski, Crookston, MN; Kris (Susan) Walski, Logan, IA; Janelle Walsh, St. Paul, MN; Melanee (Ben) Sorensen, Edina, MN; Donald Tibert, Minto, ND; and David Tibert, Grand Forks, ND;  grandchildren:  Issac, Miriam, Elias, John Paul, Magdalene, Nathan and Joseph Walski, Andrew, Ethan, Gabriel and Luke Walski, Ann, Emily and Thomas Walsh, Claire and Marty Sorensen and Dilan Tibert; two nieces and a nephew; his brother, Tom (Ann) Walski, Devils Lake, ND.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Minto.  Family rosary will be on Friday at 9:00 A.M. with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. all at the church.  Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Minto, ND.  Military Rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion Post and the Air Force Military Funeral Honors.
