James L. Schlenk

James L. Schlenk, age 74 of Park River, ND passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 at his home near Park River. James L. Schlenk was born in October 31, 1940 in Park River, ND, the son of the late Harold and Amala "Molly" (Dub) Schlenk. He graduated from High School in 1959. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served from January 14, 1960 to January 10, 1964. Following his discharge he returned to Park River. James was united in marriage to Lois Knudson on April 25, 1965 in Grafton. The couple made their home in Grafton where he worked for Adamsen Construction for over 30 years. He later worked for Paul Brodeur Construction and the carpenter shop at the Developmental Center from 1985 until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and softball. James is survived by his special friend, Treva Heck, Park River, ND; children: Jacqueline (Andrew) Moe, Grafton, ND; Shane (Diane) Schlenk, East Grand Forks, MN; Valerie (Scott) Dalbey, Grafton, ND; sisters: Monica Knutson, Schertz, TX; Debbie (Auley) Black, Augusta, GA; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren: He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Harold, Daniel and Audrey. Memorial services will be Wednesday, Novemeber 19, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Park River. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at the Calvary Cemetery of Park River. Military Rites will be provided by the Paul Farup American Legion Post #147 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
