James F. Hurt, age 81 of Hoople, ND, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 at his home in Hoople. Jim was born to Lesley and Bergit (Qualen) Hurt on June 27, 1933 in Grafton, ND. He graduated from Hoople High School in 1952 and then attended NDSU for a short time. He served 2 years in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He was united in marriage to Yvonne Severson on Oct. 26, 1956 in Park River, ND. They lived and farmed potatoes and grain near Hoople. Jim served on the Red River Valley Potato Growers Board. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially at Warroad, MN. He was a partner of Frolander's Resort at the Northwest Angle. Jim and Yvonne spent many winters in Arizona at their home in Case Grande. Jim is survived by his wife Yvonne, Hoople, ND, two sons: Leslie (Jane) Hurt, Hillsboro, ND, and Eric (Sherri) Hurt, Hoople, ND, grandchildren: Jakob, Brien, Nicole and Jillian of Hillsboro and Zachary and Andrew of Hoople, and sister Nancy Salwei, Crystal, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Bessie Paul. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church of Hoople. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Military rights will be provided by the John Anderson American Legion Post #240 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard. Inurnment will be at the Hoople City Cemetery.
