James E. Greenwood

James E. Greenwood, age 78 of Grafton, ND passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

James E. Greenwood was born June 16, 1938 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Eldon and Frances (Kohel) Greenwood. He grew up and attended school in Grafton. James enlisted in the United States Navy in 1957 and served until 1961. Following his discharge he returned home and worked at the Piggly Wiggly Store. James was united in marriage to Myrna Larson on August 5, 1961 in Devils Lake, ND. The couple made their home in Grafton. He owned and operated Dee’s Pizza in Grafton. In 1973 he went to work construction for Marvin Lykken and Leonard Momerak. He currently owned and operated Greenwood Construction in Grafton.

Jim was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served on the Duck’s Unlimited Committee. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Jim is survived by his wife, Myrna, Grafton, ND; children: Jaymes Greenwood, Hoople, ND; Jacqueline (Kit) Midgarden, Hoople, ND; three grandchildren: Rebecca (Adam) Chyle, Mason City, IA; Bryan Midgarden, Hoople, ND; Brenna Greenwood, Fargo, ND; siblings: Joyce (Francis) Hafner, Valley City, ND; Bonnie (Ken) Shannon, Grafton, ND; Mary (Larry) Sonderson, Grafton, ND; Patrick (Marcy) Greenwood, Jamestown, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Grafton American Legion Post #41 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
