James L. Bowen

James L. Bowen, age 70 of Grafton, ND passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Unity Medical Center of Grafton.

Jim was born December 26, 1946 in Marshall, MN, the son of Roger and Marjorie (Larson) Mielke. Jim graduated high school from Virginia, MN in 1964. He graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, studying business administration and accounting. Jim married the love of his life, Judy, on May 13, 1967.   Jim earned his CPA designation in 1976 and continued to work in the field of public accounting for 40 years. Jim and Judy moved to Grafton, ND in 1982, and made it their permanent home.   Jim was an avid sports fan. He loved the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, Wild (North Stars!) and UND athletics. Jim also loved music, especially big band and jazz. He loved to take road trips and see new places. He valued and cherished his friends, loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved watching them grow and achieve their goals. Nothing made him smile brighter! He loved the holiday seasons and simple family get-togethers for dinners, stories, cards and dominos.

Jim is survived by his son Jeff (Wendy) Bowen, Winnipeg, MB Canada; two granddaughters: Taryn and Cassie Bowen; his brothers: Scott (Liane), Plymouth, MA and Jon (Lois), South Elgin, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy and his mother Marjorie. Jim went by a few names, but his favorite was Grandpa!

Memorial services will be Friday, June 2, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Grafton Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
