Jack L. Elshaug, 68 of Grafton, ND passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND. Jack Leonard Elshaug was born October 1, 1943 in Tacoma, WA the son of the late Roy and Irene (Misialek) Elshaug. He grew up and attended schools in Grafton, graduating from Grafton High School in 1961. While in high school he worked for his uncle Bruno Misialek and Misialek Construction. Jack enlisted in the United States Army and served from February of 1962 to February of 1964. Following his discharge he returned to Grafton and started working for Evans Transfer. Jack was united in marriage to Janice Grundstrom on September 16, 1967 at St. John's in Grafton. The couple made their home in Grafton and Jack started working for the Gambles Store. He later worked for Sears and owned the Sears Catalog Store until 1989. He then worked for American Crystal Sugar in Drayton, ND until 2004. Jack was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Minto American Legion Post #201, and the Grafton AMVETS. He enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his parents Roy and Irene helping with the Elshaug Gardens near Grafton. Jack is survived by his wife Janice of Grafton, ND; children: Jay (Traci) Elshaug, Pelican Lake, MN; Julie (Mike) Ryan, Bloomington, MN; grandchildren: Alyssa, Dana and Eli, his brother Bill of Grafton, ND and uncle Leonard Misialek, Grafton, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Grafton. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton. Friends may also call at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Minto American Legion Post #201 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Guard.
